Multiphase CFD modeling of front propagation in a Hele-Shaw cell featuring a localized constriction

چکیده
Liquid-gas front propagation in disordered media exhibits unique behavior during a repeated series of drainage-imbibition displacements. Such complex can be simplified to single mesa-shaped defect, which provides new insight into the collective at macro-scale. We show how morphological difference imbibition and drainage is affected by capillary number wetting properties.

A Multiphase Hele-shaw Flow with Solidification
The one-phase Hele-Shaw flow has a long history and has been extensively studied from several point of views ranging from the fluid dynamical beginnings to complex analysis and integrable systems, see [5]. We prove existence, using the implicit function theorem, of a solution Wε in the Bochner space L2(0, T ;H1 0 (Ω;Rm)) to a non-local in time semi-linear system of coupled PDEs of second order ...

متن کاملSedimenting sphere in a variable-gap Hele-Shaw cell
We have measured the trajectory and visualized the wake of a single sphere falling in a fluid confined between two closely spaced glass plates (a Hele-Shaw cell). The position of a sedimenting sphere was measured to better than 0.001d , where d is the sphere diameter, for Reynolds numbers (based on the terminal velocity) between 20 and 330, for gaps between the plates ranging from 1.014d to 1.4...
متن کاملGravity-driven instability in a spherical Hele-Shaw cell.
A pair of concentric spheres separated by a small gap form a spherical Hele-Shaw cell. In this cell an interfacial instability arises when two immiscible fluids flow. We derive the equation of motion for the interface perturbation amplitudes, including both pressure and gravity drivings, using a mode coupling approach. Linear stability analysis shows that mode growth rates depend upon interface...
